Rollercoaster Tycoon Longest Coaster

You can build some ridiculous rides in RollerCoaster Tycoon, including many that show callous disregard for the health and safety of your patrons. But a project called 12 Years of Suffering inflicts over 30 million days of roller coaster ‘fun’ on parkgoers, which translates to over 12 real-world years on the tracks.

Jul 05, 2015  Rollercoaster Tycoon World. I personally think that Rollercoaster Tycoon 3 was a decent game, and was harshly criticised by many, although, it was far from perfect – and you could tell it didn’t have the input from Chris Sawyer. Let’s hope that Atari have learned from the mistakes made. Dec 18, 2018 Former record RCT2 - 12 Years Of Suffering - Longest roller coaster ever created Marcel Vos. Unsubscribe from Marcel Vos? RollerCoaster Tycoon 2; 2002; Category Gaming.

This was built in OpenRCT2 by Marcel Vos, whose YouTube channel hosts all sorts of crazy experiments in the game. There are two separate coasters on the map. One is a giant ride that takes up nearly the entire landscape, with a single cart that makes 20 laps. The other is 12 Years of Suffering itself – a tiny circuit with 30 carts all in a row.

The two tracks are synchronised so that each cart one 12 Years of Suffering only releases once all 20 circuits on the big track are complete. That means digital parkgoers are locked in absolute boredom on a miniscule track as they wait for the in-game years it takes for the big track to finish. Only once all the carts have waited out the synchronised start with the big track do you finally get off the ride.

You can find much more detail on the process in the video itself, which was brought to our attention by Matthew Reynolds on Twitter.

Yes, the project is now several weeks old, but look at it this way – you’d only be a tiny percentage of the way through those titular 12 years of suffering if you’d started back then, so no real time lost.

The comments under that video are full of suggestions for how to make the ride even longer, and it seems that Vos has picked up some workable ideas. Those poor thrillseekers may never get back home.

Tips/Tricks:

Rollercoaster Tycoon Longest Coaster Ever

  • HIGH END GRAPHICS: For those with 'High End' computers we have an option in the Graphics Settings that is called 'Better FPS over Graphics'. You should set this to Disabled in order to see shadows from rides, better reflections, and peep walks. If you leave this on Enabled the game will prioritize FPS (Frame Rate) over Graphics.
    • Note: Changing this setting will set your Graphics to 'Custom' so be sure to adjust all the other settings as well once you make the change.
    • Note 2: Set your graphics to Very High and make sure you enable all the other features - except of course 'Better FPS over Graphics'.
    • Note 3: The resolution slider for those of you who have 4K monitors might appear cut off. Simply use the scroll bar to the right of the resolution scroll bar to move whole window down. That will reveal the options that are cut off.

  • FIRST TIME USERS:For those of you not too familiar with the games or those that need a refresher please try out the in-progress Campaign Mode. This is where the tutorial can be found. Any of the maps will work and bring you through a similar experience. That said, if you jump into Sandbox mode right away, you will find some popup tips there as well - its just a bit less tips.
  • UGC DOWNLOADING: There are a few ways to try out people's UGC but one of the easiest to jump into right away is to use the 'Content Manager' (Main Menu of Game) or the 'Social Hub' (In-Park). There you just select the type of content you are interested in (the last tab is UGC scenery items) and simply click enable. To see other's UGC that you can use you will need to click My Friends (Steam Friends) or My Community (Everyone on Steam) That said, as this system relies on Steam APIs please give it a second to load if its blank.
    • Note: We have a full UGC community made Wiki that can be found by CLICKING HERE for more info.
    • Note 2: Once UGC Scenery is download and then enabled by you it will show up under the last tab of the Scenery Items list in the main UI so you can place it in your park. Coaster Blueprints will show up in the Coasters tab.
    • Note 3: Download speeds are governed by the Steam API so sometimes if an item gets stuck you may want to close a window come back later.
    • Note 4: Downloading items directly from the Steam Workshop via the Web instead of the game is NOT recommended just yet - Please Use The In-Game Content Manager instead. We are working on improving this.

  • UGC PLUGIN LOCATION: To import UGC that you create you will need to use our specially made Unity 5.2.4 plugin. It is packaged with the game and can be found at this location: C:Program Files (x86)SteamsteamappscommonRollerCoaster Tycoon WorldRollercoaster Tycoon World_DataUGCPlugin
    • Note: Please read our WIKI though before starting to import and make UGC! It can be found by CLICKING HERE.

  • SCROLL WHEEL: This is how you do a lot of your rotations, moving things up and down, and zooming in and out. It will be an important too. During the coaster builder especially you use a combination of the 1,2,3, and 4 keys as well as the Scroll Wheel on your mouse to move track about in Freeform mode.
  • EXPAND YOUR PARK:In the terrain options you can expand your park! The last option there is a park expansion tool.

  • RELEASE NOTES: The best place to see Known Issues with any specific build will be in the Release Notes of that build. Those notes will be posted each time in the Early Access Forum when we put out a new build so its clear what Bugs we fixed, what improvements we made, what new content is added, and what we know might not be working fully.
  • IN GENERAL: Expect that the simulation, content, peep animations, graphics, and feature set will improve and expand over time. We are constantly tweaking and adjusting things so you should expect changes here.
